Daniel Heagney is an avid performer of contemporary solo and chamber music for percussion. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Percussion Performance and a minor in Experimental Music and Digital Media, a Masters of Music degree from LSU, and a Bachelor of Music from George Mason University. He is currently based in the Washington, D.C. area.
Daniel is consistently involved in commissioning, performing, and recording new works for percussion. Consistently involved in premiering new works for percussion some of his recent performances have included the world premieres of Dave Molk's loss, found (vibraphone); Lindsey Jacob's Thought Echoes (vibraphone); Joe W. Moore III's Eclipse; and No wind, no rain, just a subtle mist (vibraphone and prepared vibraphone, respectively); John Supko's evening-length work All Souls (soprano, string quintet, piano, harp, synthesizer, two percussionists, and audio playback); Brett William Dietz's broken (vibraphone); Voodoo Spells and Gris Gris (oboe, vibraphone, piano, and cello); Sanctus Bells (glockenspiel quartet); Seven Refrains (flute and marimba); David Stock's Four Corners (marimba quartet); and Peter Klatzow's Six Concert Etudes for Marimba. The last of which can be heard on Daniel’s solo percussion album, Collision. He has performed and produced recordings of the percussion works of Dinos Constantinides, Brett William Dietz, Peter Klatzow, Stanley Leonard, Steven Mackey, Rodney Sharman, and David Stock.
